You know when a singer, band, actor, etc., has made an impact on your childhood, and seeing them in person just goes straight into your bucket list? Well, Billy Talent was one of those bands for me. I’m happy to say that I have finally seen Billy Talent live, and I couldn’t be happier that it’s checked off MY bucket list.
It’s a band that I used to always listen to, even to this day I still love to listen to their new and older albums. It totally brought me back to those ridiculously immature years where their lyrics, I swear, helped me.
Thursday March 28th they were here in Winnipeg for their “Dead Silence” tour, and I the energy in the MTS Centre was palpable. People were going crazy for them, and they seriously delivered. The vocals were perfection, they didn’t miss a beat and they played a killer line-up of songs. They weren’t super interactive with the audience, but they did make mention of the Winnipeg Jets, which — of course — got the crowd going. We had awesome seats, got a pretty good view of the band — who look exactly as I remembered them. I couldn’t help but think throughout their whole show, is Ian not sick of that hairstyle or what?
Sum 41 was the other headlining band, which I’ve never been a huge fan of but I do enjoy a lot of their songs. They also killed it, and I have to hand it to the lead singer Deryck Whibley, his stage presence is crazzzzy.
Regardless of whether you’re a fan of these bands or not, it’s awesome to see Canadian talent that are still together and still touring. Benjamin Kowalewicz, lead singer of Billy Talent, mentioned that they have been together for 20 years! They’re still rockin’ out and putting on an amazing show, so props to them! So, there’s one more thing checked off my bucket list, on to the next! What are some of your must see concerts???
